Bay of Plenty, RotoruaFine, apart from isolated showers this afternoon.
Taranaki to Kapiti, also TaihapeShowers developing this morning, with snow flurries about the top of the Desert Road tonight.
Gisborne to Wairarapa, including WellingtonFine at first. Widespread showers with isolated hail spreading north from late morning to reach Gisborne this evening.
Nelson, Buller, Westland and FiordlandMostly fine, but brief showers about southern Fiordland and Buller at first.
Marlborough, CanterburyShowers spreading north this morning, mainly about the coast. Snow lowering to 400 metres later.
Otago and SouthlandScattered showers, mainly in the south and east, with snow down to 500 metres, clearing inland this morning, then elsewhere by evening.

SundayNorth Island, rain, with some heavy falls possible along the east coast, showers elsewhere. Southeasterly gales in exposed places. South Island, showers in the east easing, fine elsewhere.
MondayNorth Island, showers in the north and east and Wellington, few showers clearing elsewhere and becoming fine. South Island, showers along the east coast easing, fine elsewhere.
Chatham IslandsRain at times on Saturday, and southeasterlies may rise to gale. On Sunday and Monday, a few showers, southeasterlies easing and tending southerly.

The Wanganui River was in flood after a spell of heavy rain.The flood carried a huge amount of debris - branches, tree trunks and sawn timber.Dead cattle and sheep were also sighted. "The fact that a bridge,complete with handrails, floated out towards the sea showed that the flood at some place had been something out of the ordinary."
